A celebration of life for David Hamilton Swenson, 74, a lifelong Fallon resident, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at The Gardens Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Sunday at The Gardens

Mr. Swenson died Feb. 2, 2005, in Carson City. He was born June 30, 1930, to Theodore and Myrtle Hardy Swenson

He attended Churchill County schools, graduating from Churchill County High School in 1947.

While attending school, he worked at what was then called the Fallon Standard newspaper and the Fallon Theater. He also worked at the First National Bank of Reno in Fallon as a janitor. He attended the University of Nevada for one year before joining the service.

Mr. Swenson worked in the banking business for 40 years, working as janitor, teller and then loan officer. He was active in the Masonic Douglas Lodge 12 of Free and Accepted Masons in Genoa, the American Legion, the Lions Club, Fallon Kiwanis and the Navy League. He held the office of secretary and treasurer in the Minden Rotary Club and was an honorary member of the board of Realtors.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and sisters Marjorie and Edith.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cindy Swenson of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Marjorie and Don Lewis of Fallon and Edith and Gene Cushing of Sparks; son, David of Las Vegas; stepchildren Steven and Jana Bloxham of Arizona and Shanda Bloxham, Kathy Bloxham, Danny Bloxham and Craig Whitener, all of Elko; grandchildren Will, Paul, Evan, Brianne, Gene, Everest, Erynne, Erielle, Carlie, Brennan and Kyndra and four cousins.

Burial will follow the service at the Churchill County Cemetery, and there will be a potluck luncheon immediately after at the Elk's Lodge, 93 W. Center St.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Churchill County Museum, 1050 S. Maine St., Fallon, NV 89406.

The Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
