The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's "Living With Fire" workshop on wildfire threat reduction is 9 a.m.Ð 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 5305 Mill St., Reno. The workshop will also be video-conferenced to sites in Carson City.

College math class begins Feb. 15
Students still have time to start a college math class scheduled to begin today. The class is 7-8:35 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jim Strange will teach from the Fallon campus, but the class will be available by interactive video at the Carson City and Lovelock campuses.
High school students can take the class with permission of their principals. Fundamentals of College Mathematics, MATH 120, is required at Nevada's four-year universities and is a prerequisite for Chemistry 121, a requisite class for WNCC's associate nursing degree program.
The class covers real numbers, consumer mathematics, variation, functions, relations, graphs, geometry, probability, statistics, sets and logic. The course is broad and emphasizes applications.

Children's Museum offers adult art classes
Art classes for adult beginners will be held Saturdays beginning Saturday through March 5 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St.
No skills are needed. Class times are from 9:30 a.m. to noon for beginners; 1:30-4 p.m. for intermediates. Mixed media will be taught. Cost is $80 plus cost of materials. Enroll with Melanie Meehan-Crossley at 782-4677.
Finding money for college at workshop
Help plan financing throughout college at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carson City, Douglas and Fallon campuses of Western Nevada Community College.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is required by educational institutions nationwide for students seeking financial aid, includes grants, loans and scholarships, including Nevada's Millennium Scholarship and other financial awards.
Families should research the FAFSA information requirements at www.fafsa.ed.org and obtain a FAFSA signature pin number at www.pin.ed.gov. in advance. Students under the age of 23 need to bring their parents and their parents' 2004 income data, as well as their own 2004 income data. Students over age 24 need to bring their 2004 income data.
