WELLINGTON - A Yerington man was killed Tuesday in an accident 30 miles south of Wellington.
Robert Degolyer, 49, died about 4:40 p.m. on State Route 338 when he lost control of his Jaguar.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Degolyer was northbound and had just crossed the California-Nevada border when for unknown reasons his 1989 Jaguar traveled off the right side of the highway.
The vehicle traveled for a short distance in the dirt area adjacent to the northbound travel lanes, then vaulted off a dirt embankment before landing in a concrete culvert.
Lyon County Sheriff's deputies pronounced Degolyer dead at the scene. Passenger Deborah Bowman-Guerrero, 35, also of Yerington, suffered a broken ankle. She was taken to Washoe Medical Center by helicopter.
