The State of Nevada Employees Association will hold a rally today outside of the Legislature Building.
A spokesman said the purpose is to raise awareness of issues including health insurance reform. He said they want an actuarial study of the benefits of pooling all public employees into one health plan.
"While our nation as a whole is faced with a health-care crisis, the Legislature has a unique opportunity this session to achieve genuine health insurance reform that will help keep Nevada on the very short list of states with stable economies and an improving fiscal outlook," said SNEA Executive Director Scott MacKenzie.
He said the 11 a.m. rally seeks more involvement by state employees in the decisions that affect them, as well as changes to their benefits plan which could provide them with better, less expensive health insurance.
