A Washoe Valley man allegedly shot and injured his son Saturday night then barricaded himself in the house and turned the gun on himself, according to preliminary Washoe County Sheriff's Office reports.
Deputies responded to a call at the 2000 block of East Lake Boulevard around 6:45 p.m. Saturday on a report of a shooting between a father and a son.
Upon arrival, they discovered the son with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police reports.
As SWAT and hostage teams set up a perimeter around the area, deputies tried to make contact with the father, who had barricaded himself in the house.
After several hours of unsuccessful communication, a SWAT team entered the home and found a dead man.
Authorities would not confirm Sunday afternoon whether the man was in fact the father of the shooting victim.
The names of both men are being withheld pending notification of family members.
Investigations are ongoing.
