Grief counselors were on hand at Carson High School on Wednesday after a 15-year-old boy was found dead in his home Tuesday night.

An e-mail explaining the death of the sophomore was sent to teachers, who then made the announcement during morning classes.

"We wanted to have the announcement come from someone familiar," said Principal Fred Perdomo.

Members of Carson-Tahoe Hospital's Crisis Intervention Team and a school psychologist were available throughout the day, he said.

Counselors will return this morning.

"There were some students who requested to speak with the counselors," he said. "Teachers were instructed to answer any questions the students had and allow any student who requested, to speak with counselors. We had a lot of resources available if we needed them."
