A memorial service for George Mackay Mortimer Sr., 84, a Reno resident and former Carson City resident for several years, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Sierra Chapel, 875 W. Second St., Reno.
Mr. Mortimer died Jan. 7, 2005. He was born June 5, 1920, in Philadelphia to John and Gladys Mortimer.
He married Buelah Jones May 15, 1943.
Mr. Mortimer was a master carpenter and builder who owned his own companies. He was a Scoutmaster.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John of Denver.
Among his survivors are his wife of 62 years; sisters Peg and Edith of Doylestown, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Bill Clark; son and daughter-in-law, George M. Jr. and Pam; grandchildren Rodger, George, Mariah and Joyce; and great-granddaughter Vivian.
In lieu of flowers, plant a rose bush or a tree this spring and care for it in his memory.
Walton's Sierra Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
