BRAD HORN/Nevada Appeal A Carson City Sheriff's deputy walks in front of a truck that collided with Deputy Glenn Fair's patrol car at the intersection of Graves Lane and Highway 50 Saturday.
A Carson City deputy will be back at work today after suffering minor injuries when a vehicle slammed into his patrol car as he raced through a stoplight.
Deputy Glenn Fair had a minor concussion and soreness from the Saturday afternoon collision at Graves Lane and Highway 50 East but is expected to return on his regular work day today, Undersheriff Steve Albertsen said.
"Fair was going through the intersection to give chase on someone who ran a red light. He had lights and sirens going when a truck hit his vehicle on the driver's side toward the back door," said Sheriff Kenny Furlong.
"The vehicle apparently did not see or hear the warning signals."
The driver of the civilian vehicle and a young passenger did not appear to be seriously injured, Albertsen said.
Fair told superiors he struck his head on the side window in the impact.
Furlong said the Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
By Nevada law, all other vehicles must yield the right of way to emergency vehicles and immediately drive and stop at a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of a highway clear of any intersection.
