A celebration of life for Arminda Bernadette Samson-Serapio "Armi Olson" will be Feb. 19 in Las Vegas.
Ms. Samson-Serapio died Dec. 22, 2004. She was born July 13, 1958, in Manila, Philippines. She immigrated to the United States as a child and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1981, majoring in public affairs.
After moving to Carson City in 1994, she and her husband opened Armio's at the Bonanza Ranch in the building presently occupied by Glen Eagles Restaurant.
After leaving Carson City, she lived in New York City where she was the director of food and beverage at the United Nations Plaza Hotel, the Sheraton and Friendly's. She moved to Great Barrington, Mass., where she was part owner of another restaurant, Armi@GreatBarrington. Just prior to her death, she had the contract for the food concession at Jacob's Pillow, a prestigious summer dance academy located in the Berkshires. She enjoyed good food, skiing, golfing, fencing and scuba diving.
Among her survivors are her mother, Emma Samson-Santini; father, Jose Serapio Jr.; stepfather, Rafael Santini; stepmother, Maureen Santini; sister, Baby-lane and brothers Arnel, Rodel, Marcel and J.R. Serapio; niece, Katrina Yulo and nephews Francis and Franco Santos.
