A memorial service for Grace Hogan Bilyeu, 88, a Carson City resident for the past 44 years, will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 4 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Bilyeu died Jan. 18, 2004, at Cypress Courts in Reno following a brief illness. She was born in Bessie, Okla., to James Henry and Mary Stormer Hogan.
She graduated from Clinton High School and Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University).
She married Casper W. "Cap" Bilyeu.
Mrs. Bilyeu pursued a clerical and accounting career from Stillwater, Okla., to Tucumcari and Santa Fe, N.M., Buhl and Gooding, Idaho, and finally Carson City. She began working for Carson City in 1965, was promoted to chief deputy recorder and then appointed Carson City Recorder by the Carson City Board of Supervisors where she served from September 1970 until January 1971. She retired from the Carson City Finance Department in 1978. After retirement she and her husband traveled abroad and enjoyed their summer home and golf in Graeagle, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Edna Gibson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and brothers Charles Hogan of Norman, Okla., and Harry Hogan of Clinton, Okla.
Among her survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sally of Carson City; grandsons Ricky Bilyeu of Carson City and Cameron Green of Reno and several nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 305 N. Minnesota St. Carson City, NV 89702.
Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
