LAS VEGAS - A 49-year-old Florida man visiting Las Vegas for a convention died after he was shot while trying to stop two men accused of robbing a McDonald's, authorities said.

Thomas Latimer of Maitland, Fla., was shot as he tried to stop a robber leaving McDonald's restaurant just east of the Las Vegas Strip on Friday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Latimer was taken to University Medical Center, where he died early Saturday morning.

Shortly after the robbery, police arrested Charles Anthony Walker, 26, and an unidentified man in a car matching the one seen at the McDonald's robbery.

Walker and the other man, identified only as John Doe in his early 20s, face murder, robbery, and other charges.

Both men are believed to have robbed another McDonald's earlier Friday, police said.
