Investigators arrested three men on Lompa Lane late Thursday who were allegedly found in possession of three pounds of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $170,000.
Samuel Castro Rijos, a 24-year-old unemployed man from Carson City, Eduardo Augustin Castillo, 21, a laborer from Sparks, and Eli Jesus Sandoval, a 37-year-old mechanic from Los Angeles, were arrested and charged with trafficking drugs.
"It was a very significant bust," said Lt. Scott Jackson, commander of Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force. "Three pounds is a lot of dope. Anytime you can take $170,000 worth of dope off the streets, it's that much more beneficial to the community."
Jackson said the trio was arrested around 10:30 p.m. and the search extended until around 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Approximately $5,800 in cash was also reportedly recovered.
The suspects were booked into the Carson City jail on various charges, and bail was set at $270,000 each.
According Jackson, the arrests were the culmination of a two-month investigation.
Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force includes the Nevada Department of Public Safety-Investigation Division, and the Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties sheriff's departments. The DPS's Highway Patrol Division also assisted in the enforcement activities.
