The Carson American 9-10-year-old all-stars pulled out a thrilling 7-6 comeback win over North Valleys in the district Little League Tournament on Thursday at Shadow Mountain in Sparks.
Despite finishing 2-2 in pool play, Carson didn't advance to the playoff round. But the team finished on a high note, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 6-1 deficit.
North Valleys scored four runs in the fourth and once in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. But David Gieke, Richard Long, Tony Fondi, Ben Allbritten, Cody Reno and David Yamamoto all had hits to lead Carson's game-winning rally.
Casey Wolfe then came in to strike out the side in the sixth to preserve the win. Wolfe, Gieke and Reno combined for 14 strikeouts.
