Federal agents and Mexican authorities are continuing to search for a Fernley girl allegedly kidnapped and taken to Mexico by her mother's roommate a week ago.

Lyon County Detective Rob Hall said no new witnesses have come forward to report anymore sightings of Fernando Aguero, 47, and Lydia Bethany-Rose Rupp, 8, in the area surrounding Tijuana, Mexico near the San Diego border.

Aguero, a convicted sex-offender, is suspected of abducting the girl while her mother was at work July 22.

Aguero shared a home with Lydia, her mother Carmen Bauer and Bauer's 10-year-old son, Daniel.

FBI Special Agent Dave Shrom said Mexican officials are cooperating in the investigation.

"Whatever (resources) the Mexican government has at its disposal, they are using," he said.

According to KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, flyers with Lydia's photo were handed out Wednesday in an area known as La Mesa - Aguero's hometown.
