According to a recent press release by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), it would like to remind hunters that reservations for the 2005 Special Sage Grouse Hunt at Charles Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge (northwest of Winnemucca on the Oregon - Nevada border) are due on August 5.
Seventy five reservations are available for each of the two available hunts.
The first special sage grouse hunt begins on September 17-18, 2005, and is followed by a second hunt September 24-25, 2005.
Hunters successful in obtaining a reservation have a daily bag limit of two sage grouse, with a possession limit of four.
The regulations for the special sage grouse season can be found online at www.ndow.org.
Those interested in applying should visit that NDOW web site or contact their regional NDOW office to obtain an application.
All applications must be received by the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Game Bureau, 1100 Valley, Road, Reno, NV 89512 by 5 p.m. on August 5.
Special Note: Hunters are reminded that an upland game bird stamp is required to hunt sage grouse in Nevada.
