A service for Melvin Curtis Montgomery, 79, a Carson City resident for the past four years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley with full military honors.
Mr. Montgomery died June 3, 2005, at home. He was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Oberlin, Kan., to Earl and Ada Hurst Montgomery.
Mr. Montgomery was owner/operator of a truck repair business. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod; and Operating Engineers Local 12 of Southern California.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his sister Gladys Rhoades and brother, Glenn.
Among his survivors are his wife, Eunice of Carson City; daughters Debra Harvey of Hesperia, Calif., and Denice Montgomery of Dayton; sister Doris Montgomery of Visalia, Calif.; granddaughter, Julie Ann Ord; great-granddaughter, Elly Ord; and numerous nieces and nephews.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
