Mary Ann Crocker Mitchell, 74, died May 20, 2005 in Oceanside, Calif. after a short illness. She was born Nov. 11, 1930 to Percy S. Crocker and Bertha Marion Crocker.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, George W. Mitchell, in 2000.
She spent her childhood in Carson City, graduating from Carson City High School in 1948. Mary Ann, along with her sister, Dorothy (Crocker) Brown, and their parents, were active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City.
Mrs. Mitchell attended Occidental College in Pasadena, Calif. In 1952, she married her career Marine (Chosin Few) husband, George W. Mitchell. Mary Ann and George had five children and settled down in Vista, Calif. after George retired from the Marines.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Crocker) Brown of Renton, Wash.; her sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy S. Mitchell, Escondido, Calif.; David W. and Suzanne Mitchell, Carlsbad, Calif.; John and Julie Mitchell, Mission Viejo, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Dianne and Ramie P. La Belle, Oceanside; Linda and Mathew Souza, Tigard, Oregon; and nine grandchildren.
A private family memorial was held, with donations requested in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society. Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside was in charge of arrangements.
