A memorial for Raymond V. McKown, 71, a five-year Carson City resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Carson City.
Mr. McKown died June 8, 2005, in Carson City.
He was born Sept. 14, 1933, to Daniel McKown and Clara Huckabee McKown in Crowell, Texas.
Prior to living in Merced, he in lived in Tracy, Calif.
He graduated from Merced High School in Merced. He married Noralie A. Mitchell on May 18, 1963, in Tracy.
Mr. McKown was a paper mill machine operator and was working at Wal-Mart at the time of his death.
He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and California National Guard from 1956 to 1962.
He was a member of First Baptist churches in Tracy and Carson City; Calvary Baptist Church in Manteca, Calif.; and Grace Baptist Church in Tracy.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister Robert and Frances McKown, both of Merced; Aunt and Uncle Verna and Clifford Huckabee; and cousin David Huckabee of Tracy.
Among his survivors are his wife; son, Shawn Arnold McKown and grandson, Ian Raymond McKown, both of Carson City; sister Evelyn McKown of Merced; brothers and sisters in-law Robin and George Engeman, Charlotte and Paul Sims and John Mitchell; cousin Genia Huckabee Hale of Tracy; and numerous other cousins.
Cremation is under the direction of Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.
Inurnment will be at Tracy Cemetery at a later date.
