Carson American Hooligans defeat North Valleys

David Feltner pitched a two-hit shutout and his teammates pushed across six runs in the first two innings to lead Carson American to an easy 11-0 win over North Valleys in a District 1 Hooligan Little League game at Edmonds Sports Complex.

The game was stopped after four innings because of the 10-run rule. Carson American completed the pool play portion of the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Carson plays Washoe tonight at 8 to start the single elimination phase of the tourney. Washoe bashed South Tahoe 15-0 last night and didn't allow a run in pool play.

"David played a strong game," Carson manager Greg Suggs said of Feltner. "We were down on pitchers. We were hoping to hold off (using anybody else) until tomorrow.

"All of our big bats came through early in the game."

Carson started the onslaught with two runs in the first, as Billy Canfield (2-for-2) doubled, moved to third on a bunt single by Nate Brown and came around to score when the North Valleys defense fell asleep. Brown scored on Matt Cooper's single.

American made it 6-0 with four runs in the second. Canfield had a run-scoring double, Seth Rojas drove in two with his two-bagger. The fourth run scored on an error. Zach Nichols doubled in the inning and Brown singled. Carson left the bases jammed, the first of three times that happened in the lopsided contest.

That was more than enough for Feltner, who retired seven of the first eight hitters he faced. He finished with seven strikeouts and didn't give up his first hit until the fourth when Michael Smith and Austin Jones connected for back-to-back singles. Feltner ended the game when he struck out Cody Gregg looking.

Canfield, Brown and Rojas all had two hits. Cooper, Isaac Allen and Feltner added a hit apiece.

RENO NATIONAL 10,

CARSON NATIONAL 0

Reno scored four runs in the first, three in the second and three in the fourth en route to an easy win over the National squad.

Carson finished the pool play with a 1-3 record and didn't qualify for the single-elimination phase of the tourney.

The game was stopped after four innings because of the 10-run rule. Parker Mason and Mike Elam combined for a three-hitter for Reno. Tyler Nolan had a double and single for Carson and Ricardo Mata added a single.

WASHOE 16, CARSON NATIONAL 4

Salvador Mata hit 2-for-2 to provide an offensive highlight for the Carson National 9-10 year olds in their loss against Washoe. Jacob McClelland and Danny Bacon collected one hit each for Carson National, which plays again today at 5:30.
