It was an extremely painful night for Carson American's Hooligan squad.
Washoe Valley, the perennial District 1 powerhouse pounded Carson 20-2 Tuesday at Edmonds Sports Complex, eliminating Carson from the tournament.
The game was stopped after 3 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.
Washoe's Max Heckendorn and Derek Diehl combined for a two-hitter and nine strikeouts.
Heckendorn threw the first three innings and retired all nine Carson batters he faced, including seven straight by strikeout. Diehl gave up both Carson runs and hits in the fourth inning.
David Feltner broke up the no-hitter and perfect game with a one-out single to left. After a strikeout, Matt Cooper walked. Both scored on Seth Rojas' double.
After scoring a single run in the first on a double, two walks and a wild pitch, Washoe exploded for five in the second and 14 in the third.
Ray McBroom keyed the second-inning outburst with a two-run triple and Matt Johnson added a run-scoring double.
In the third, Washoe sent 19 batters to the plate. Reserve Brian Jordan drove in three runs with a double and single. Thomas Batey, another reserve, drove in three runs in the wild inning with two doubles.
Kyle Carter led Washoe with three hits.
Carson finished 2-3 in the tourney, and is the only team to score a run against Washoe thus far.
RENO NATIONAL 9, CARSON NATIONAL RENEGADES 7
Despite a stirring rally that saw them get the winning run to first base with one out, Reno was able to hold off the Carson Renegades in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the win.
Carson took a 3-2 lead in the second without the benefit of a hit. Carson was the beneficiary of three walks and an error in the inning.
Reno bounced back with three runs and three hits in the third to take a 5-3 lead. Drew Winklemaier, Jacob Wait and David Hinitz hit consecutive singles to account for the runs.
Carson National battled back with two runs in the fifth, tying the game at 5. With runners on first and second, Reno errored on a sacrifice bunt, allowing Zak Harjes to score from second. Jay Milligan singled in the second run.
Reno re-took the lead, 9-5, with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. A controversial call at home aided Reno's rally. Cole Cavallo and J.J. Harloff had Reno's hits in the inning.
Carson battld back again, as Billy Goularte singled and stole second. Jacob McClelland walked. Both eventually scored, one coming on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Roll. The other scored on a walk.
Goularte led Carson with two hits and three runs scored. Winkelmaier led Reno with three hits.
