It's a DAWG's day in Douglas County on Saturday

Every dog has its day, but Saturday is for every dog (and cat) in Douglas County.

It's a DAWG's Day Animal Awareness Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Indoor Pavilion.

Sponsored by Douglas Animal Welfare Group, the event promises lots of fun and information about man's best friends and their feline buddies.

Special features include:

• Microchip Clinic with Linda Miner, DVM. The $30 fee includes the implant and registration with the AVID nationwide database. DAWG will handle the paperwork.

• Pet Psychic Terri Jay will give a 10 minute reading for $20. Animals need not be present.

• Pet Photography by Ann Clayton Photography. Each free session includes a complimentary wallet print for one dog at a time, no people. Appointments can be scheduled by calling Sherrie at 790-0030.

• The Kids' Corner includes ASJ Small Engines Kiddie Train, coloring, crafts, contests and other activities designed to be fun and to help children learn more about their pets.

• A silent auction includes a wide assortment of pet-care and boutique items, plus certificates for various human food, recreation and spa items.

• Vendors booths include Pet Partners for Seniors, Eastern Sierra Feed, Starbucks coffee, MAX's Pet Supplies & Gifts, veterinarian information, Bones and Scones Dog Bakery & Bow-tique, Critter Junction, Boneyard Bakery, Pet Chef Express, Nevada Humane Society, Cookie Lee Jewelry by Sherrie Harcourt, DAWG.

DAWG is a volunteer organization with the goal of bettering the lives of Douglas County animals and improving the adoptability of dogs and cats at the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
