A celebration of life for Larry D. Wresh, 70, a Gardnerville resident for the past 16 years, will be from noon-3 p.m. Saturday at Bently Science Park in Minden. Casual Western attire is requested and refreshments will be served.
Mr. Wresh died March 6, 2005, at Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville. He was born March 30, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Robert and Jewelle Schmidt.
He married Lillian on Feb. 2, 2000, in Gardnerville.
He received a high school diploma and attended many college courses during his military career.
Mr. Wresh worked as a printer, worked construction and spent the last 15 years as a facilities technician for Bently Nevada Corp.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-56 aboard the USS Kenneth Whiting AV-14, USS Repose Att-16, USS Wright and USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a member of the National Guard of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Among his survivors are his wife of Gardnerville; daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Brian Schmidt of Wellington and Barbara and Herbert Slone of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Lynda Howell of Mishawaka, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kimberly of Manicopa, Ariz.; stepchildren Joyce and Butch White, Ron Furtado, Sheri and Mike McCalmon and Troy Costa; mother; sisters, Mildred and Marilyn Schmidt; brother, David Schmidt; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Barton Memorial Hospital; Barton Hospice of the Valley; or Topaz Ranch Estates Volunteer Fire Department.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
