The Douglas Tiger softball team wrapped a successful opening weekend with a win at the Best of the West Tournament in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Kellei Kizer struck out seven and walked two, surrendering two hits in five innings as the Tigers beat Kofa High School out of Yuma, Ariz., 8-1.
Kayla Dunn hit a home run and had two RBI and Jessie Kizer went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Tigers.
Brittany Puzey, Val Smith and Lauren Hoppe each had hits as well for Douglas.
Puzey pitched two innings in relief and struck out three while surrendering one earned run.
Douglas went 3-1 at the tournament, widely considered one of the most prestigious in the Western United States and will take on Carson at Carson at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
