Carson High graduate Ryan Henry pitched five shutout innings for Lassen Community College in a 10-1 win over College of Redwoods on Saturday in a Golden Valley Conference game.
In addition, another Carson High graduate, 2004 CHS graduate, Cameron Leck is off to a red hot start for San Mateo College.
Henry, a 2003 CHS graduate and a redshirt freshman, struck out six and scattered five hits in a performance that enabled Lassen to take two-out-of-three in the series. In a doubleheader on Friday, Lassen split, winning 10-4 and losing 3-2.
On Saturday, with the bases loaded and one out in the first inning, Henry induced a double play to escape the jam. Henry also struck out the side in the third inning.
Henry's brother, Aaron, a 2004 CHS graduate, didn't have much of a chance to hit over the weekend. In the 10-4 win, Aaron was walked twice and hit by a pitch and scored three runs. In the 3-2 loss, he went 1-for-3. In the 10-1 win, Aaron went 0-for-1, was hit by a pitch twice and scored two runs.
Lassen will play a three-game series this Friday and Saturday against Feather River, playing in Susanville at 2 p.m. Friday and then playing a doubleheader in Quincy at noon Saturday.
For San Mateo through 15 games, Leck is leading the team in hitting with a .417 average and has two home runs and 15 RBI.
Fallon's Aarik Wilson became a two-time national champion for Indiana University on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships.
After winning the long jump title on Friday, Wilson came back to win the title in his best event, the triple jump, on Saturday, leaping to 55 feet, 6 1/4 inches to win the crown. Wilson also became Indiana's first ever two-time champion at the NCAA Indoor meet.
In addition, Wilson's performance helped Indiana to a fifth place finish as a team in th meet.
