More than half way finished with the design for the long-awaited Carson freeway, state transportation officials are seeking public input on the project one more time Tuesday.

"We've made our comments, and now it's time to hear from the public," said Nevada Division of Transportation project manager Jim Gallegos.

The freeway, planned in Carson City for decades, will connect Highway 395 at Arrowhead Drive to Highway 50 East, easing the city's congestion by rerouting commuters around downtown.

The freeway's phase 1 is already designed and under construction. Designs for rest of the freeway, from U.S. Highway 50 to South Carson Street, are 60 percent complete. The major elements are already fixed, Gallegos said, but "there is flexibility on minor aspects."

The meeting at Fuji Park, from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday is a chance for NDOT to hear concerns from residents and business about things like signage, sidewalk widths and construction schedules.

"There may be things we don't know about," Gallegos said.
