Fallon golf wins High Desert tournament

The Fallon High golf team appears to be the team to beat in the Northern 4A after the first league tournaments were held on Tuesday.


Fallon ran away to win the first High Desert League Tournament it hosted at Fallon Golf Club. Fallon finished with a score of 377, with Manogue in second at 410 and Galena in third at 422.


Among the top individual winners were Fallon's Scott Smith, who was the low score medalist with a 66. Fallon's Jason Kirby was sixth with a 78. Galena's Wade McElroy and Joel Rivadeneyra tied for seventh with an 80, Fallon's Braden Jacobs was ninth with an 81 and Galena's Trent Hays tied for 10th with an 82.


Also for Galena, Steve Blackhart and Randy Sidwell each shot a 90 and Ryan Hill fired a 92.


In Tuesday's Sierra League meet at Sierra Sage in Stead, Reno won with a 403 while Carson took second with a 408.
