The restoration efforts undertaken to rehabilitate lands burned by last July's Waterfall fire in Carson City have been extensive. University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will present a summary of these efforts from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive.
"We have been working closely with Carson City, many state and federal agencies, and local volunteers, but there's still a lot of work to be done," says JoAnne Skelly, Carson City/Storey County Extension Educator, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. Skelly says they have also been doing a lot of work with individual property owners, giving them recommendations on what they can do to better protect their homes from the threat of wildfire. Thursday's presentation will also provide some recommendations for homeowners.
The presentation is free and open to the public. For information, contact Skelly, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 887-2252 or by e-mail at: skellyj@unce.unr.edu. Cooperative Extension reminds the public that areas affected by the Waterfall Fire remain closed to ensure public safety.
