Lowry assistant coach T.W. Cunningham has been named boys basketball coach at Dayton High, NevadaPrep.com has reported.

Cunningham had been an assistant to Lowry boys coach Chad Peters the past three years. He also coached the JV team during that time, and won or shared Northern 3A titles in each of those three seasons.

"It's a great opportunity and I'm thankful that the administration (at Dayton) has the confidence in me that they do," Cunningham told NevadaPrep.com. "Yes and no, it's difficult to leave Lowry ... I'm looking forward to the new challenge. Lowry taught me a lot, and I feel like I'm ready for this."

Cunningham, 26, played football as a walk-on at the University of Nevada and caught 23 passes in 2001. Cunningham replaces Rob Streeter, who left to take over as the Douglas High boys basketball coach.
