Warren Johnston Gavey, 94, a 35-year resident of Carson City, died May 25, 2005, at Washoe Medical Center.

He was born July 31, 1910, in Newburgh, N.Y., to Warren J. Sr. and Louise Von Wilkinson Gavey.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Gavey lived in Lafayette, Calif., from 1943 to 1970.

He worked for Shell Oil and Shell Chemical companies in Martinez and Emeryville, Calif., and in Deer Park, Texas from 1927 to 1943.

Mr. Gavey was the co-founder of the Sierra Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a member of Alamo Lodge No. 122 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Walnut Creek, Calif., and, at the time of his death, was the oldest living past master, having held that office in 1939.

He graduated from Mount Diablo High School in Walnut Creek.

Among his survivors are his wife of 74 years, Camilla; daughter, Sallie Gavey Rasmussen of Washoe Valley; son, Paul Gavey of Copperopolis, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

At his request, no service will be held.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
