A Rosary will be said for Thomas N. Lowe Sr., 58, at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A celebration of life with military honors will be held at the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Lowe died May 24, 2005, at his Gardnerville home. He was born Aug. 28, 1946, in San Francisco to David and Hazel Lowe.
He grew up in San Francisco and joined the U.S. Navy in 1963. He served in the Vietnam War on the USS Ticonderoga.
Mr. Lowe's career began as a cowboy stuntman, followed by 37 years in the cable industry, first working for Storrer in 1968, then Century Communications for 27 years. He most recently worked for Cablecom as an aerial and underground supervisor/manager before retirement.
He was a member of E Clampus Vitus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and was recently baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith.
He loved rides on his scooter on Nevada backroads and was an avid San Francisco 49ers and Giants fan.
His passions were his family, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, fishing and caring for his roses. He was known as the "Lawn Ranger" for the impeccable care of his lawn and garden.
Among his survivors are wife, Deborah; children Tammy, Tommy, Tina, Kim, Joe, Jenny, Justin and Tabitha; brothers Gene and Jimmy Haines and David and Richard Lowe; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Shirley Barke; Godparents Tom and Laura Burke; sisters-in-law Linda, Pam and Eileen; extended family members Mike Gillespie and Dennis, Janine and Ben Primrose and numerous nieces and nephews.
