Motorcycle crash victims identified

The victims of a motorcycle accident which occurred at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on Highway 50 West below Spooner Summit, 1 1/2 miles west of the intersection of Highway 395, have been identified by Nevada Highway Patrol.

Preliminary accident details show Jonathan R. Witt, 27, and Melissa A. Aalgaard, 34, both of Carson City, were west bound when they failed to negotiate a curve to the left and traveled onto the right paved shoulder while riding a 1998 Kawasaki ZX600, registered to Witt.

There was a skid mark from the motorcycle tire on the right shoulder as the motorcycle struck an asphalt curb. The rider and passenger were both ejected.

Witt and Aalgaard were taken to Washoe Medical Center by Care Flight. Witt is listed in serious condition, while Aalgaard is in critical condition.

The accident is investigation, and NHP would like any witnesses to call 688-2500.
