Man still in hospital after Sun Valley shootout

A 37-year-old man remains hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting in Sun Valley Friday evening.

Roy Wilkins, 37, remained hospitalized at Washoe Medical Center on Saturday following the shooting. Detective Tom Green was pursing an ongoing investigation when he was confronted by Wilkins, who produced a handgun and threatened the officer causing Green to shoot Wilkins, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

The incident is under multi-jurisdictional investigation by the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office. Green has been placed on routine paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
