Two big Mackinaw at Ski Run Shelf

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Doug Busey of Douglas County reported that the boats at Upper Blue Lake are catching fish with flashers and worms.

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF:

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Doug Ouellette at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113) reported, "Davis Lake is starting to slow down a bit. The fly fishermen are using Snails and Blood Midges from float tubes and boats at Jenkins and Camp Five on the west side of the lake. Fish the points."

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): Great weather has brought a lot of fishermen out. They are getting limits of beautiful rainbows on nightcrawlers and Power Bait.

Bank fish off the dam area or Lunker Point or Turkey Point. Troll these areas with nightcrawlers behind flashers or troll with Woolly Bugger flies Fish are not deep.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR, CALIF: Doug Busey reported that he watched another fisherman catch about a 3-pound rainbow on Saturday. The angler put his trout on a stringer, placed it in the water, and the fish began to swim away with the stringer.

The fisherman ran into the water, made a dive and managed to catch the stringer and fish, accompanied by the cheers of those watching.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store (775-476-0555) reported: "The fishing is getting better, most fishermen are catching fish along the western shore.

They are catching fish at "The Nets" and at the Block House.

Ed Fellows of Reno caught an 11-pound, 8-ounce Cutt on a fly at "The Nets" on Sunday.

George (Pyramid Lake Charters) has been catching 6-25 fish a day, dependent on the wind".

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Doug Ouellette reported, "The fishing is picking up as the fish move back into the shallower water.

Fly fishermen doing good at "The Nets" for 4-5 pounders. They are catching about one fish an hour, not red hot but good.

The trollers are working between Pelican and Sutcliffe, with the normal trolling lures."

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448):

Redding to Anderson: Water flows at 5,500 CFS.

King Salmon: Is fair to good in the Balls Ferry area. Fishing is getting tougher, water is low and clear.

Catching 4-7 salmon per boat, a few 40 pounders.

Using Flatfish lures, wrapped with Sardine wrap.

Rain is needed to bring up new, brighter salmon.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): "Agate Bay and Dollar Point have been very good, early in the mornings.

We are trolling for Macks with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at depths of 160-300 feet, along the edges of the drop-offs."

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: "Fishing has been good to excellent at Ski Run Mound, Ski Run Shelf and Camp Richardson.

We are trolling 150-300 feet deep with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

Robin Auger of Phoenix, Arizona caught a 15.5 pound Mack and an 8.8 pound Mack on Nov. 12, just off Ski Run Shelf. She was trolling 300 feet deep with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

Just about every other trip, we are hooking into a 10+ pound Mack. Two days ago (Sunday), we lost a 20+ pounder, right at the boat as were trying to net it.

Ian Howard of Sacramento caught an 8 pound brown at Rubicon Point with a Rapala."

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis: "Picking up rainbows (1-4 pounds), trolling at Logan Shoals and Deadman's Point. Shore fishermen catching rainbows at Cave Rock Landing.

TRUCKEE RIVER, NEV: Doug Ouellette: The fishing is really doing good, right now, all the way up and down the river.

Especially at Mogul, Mayberry and in downtown Reno.

They are using Stone flies, Panther/Martin or Kastmaster lures, or nightcrawlers.

Rainbows, up to 18 inches.

WALKER LAKE, NEV: Good fishing at the north end of the lake, near the boundary of the Indian reservation, for Lahontan cutthroat trout, up to 4 pounds.

Fishing in chest waders and spincasting with various colored No. 2 TOR-P-DO lures. Lots of shore fishermen in this area.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: "It's raining up here, this morning (Monday). It is 40 degrees and it is snowing in the mountains. Fishing is excellent. This is the time of the year when it really picks up. The trout are running up to 4 pounds, each, and there are lots of easy limits.

From shore, they are using bright green or rainbow Power Bait or nightcrawlers or shrimp-flavored marshmallows.

The boats are trolling with silver flasher blades and worms.
