Michelle Kop finished fifth to help lead the Carson High girls golf team to a third place finish in the final Sierra League Tournament on Tuesday at Lake Tahoe Golf Course.
Reno High finished with a 479 while South Tahoe finished at 509 and the Senators were third with a 519 on a cold and windy day at South Tahoe. Carson finished the regular season standings tied for second with South Tahoe as each team had three second place finishes in the six league tournaments.
South Tahoe had taken second in four of the tournaments, but one of their players was disqualified in last week's event, which elevated Carson to second.
Kop, a sophomore, shot a 99, giving her a score of under 100 for all six tournaments, "which is really very good," Carson coach Terry Gingell said.
Also for Carson, Lydia Peri shot a 104, Samantha Wang fired a 106, Sarah Metcalf had a 109, Grace Ray had a 111 and Melanie Gingell added a 129.
Next up for Carson is the Northern 4A Championship Monday and Tuesday at Silver Oak.
"She's about ready to put it together," said Gingell about Kop. "Hopefully she'll do it at zone next week and the same goes for Lydia as well."
Gingell also said he expects his entire team to peak at zone. "They're playing well," he said. "I think they're going to put it together. They're ready. I think we're going to have some good scores."
