ROP football rolls to victory

The Rite of Passage football team rolled to a 42-6 win over Independence on Saturday, improving to 5-2 and 4-2 in the Northern 2A.

Deshaun Alarcon completed only two passes but each were for 72-yard touchdowns, one to Willie Torrance and the other to Deshaun Williams.

Zayid Wolfe gained 89 yards on four carries, Tyrie Green added 88 yards on six carries and Alarcon had 41 yards on five carries for the Rams. Anthony Broadus scored a touchdown, Dontae Clay scored a touchdown and two-point conversion, Steven Davis scored a TD, Jessie McCoy kicked an extra point and field goal and Wolfe scored a touchdown for ROP.

On defense, Hector Sanchez had eight tackles, Benito Saragoza had a sack, Davis had three fumble recoveries and Broadus added a fumble recovery.
