Prenatal workshop offered in Spanish
The March of Dimes and Nevada Hispanic Services of Carson City are sponsoring a prenatal workshop specifically for uninsured Hispanic women from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Nevada Hispanic Services.
If women are insured, they may still attend and be provided with information on prenatal care and resources. The trainers are all professionals from the community who have volunteered. There is no cost for the workshop, and lunch will be provided.
The Nevada Hispanic Services office is at 637 S. Stewart St., Suite 5. The workshop will be taught in Spanish. For information, call 885-1055 on Thursday or at 882-8448 at Friends in Service Helping on Friday.
Class of 1960 fetes 45th reunion
The Carson High School Class of 1960 will hold a 45th reunion dinner Oct. 28 at Piñon Plaza Resort.
There will be no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Dance night to benefit Carson Advocates for Cancer Care
Friday's World Dance Open Floor Night from 7-9 p.m. at Comma Coffee will be a fundraising event for the Carson Advocates for Cancer Care, a local nonprofit organization. The theme is THINK PINK, and many of the local dancers will be dressed in pink.
World Dance Open Floor Night will be held at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.

BLM auctioning public lands in northern Douglas
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City Field Office, is accepting bids for two parcels in northern Douglas County. The properties lie just south of the Carson City limits. Optional sealed bids will be accepted through Thursday, with a live auction scheduled for Oct. 27 in Minden.
The northern parcel contains 100 acres and is primarily zoned residential; minimum acceptable bid is $10 million. The southern parcel contains 106.25 acres the minimum acceptable bid is $6.4 million. Both parcels currently contain open space designations.
These parcels adjoin land that is across from the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Clear Creek Plaza, and Carson Valley Plaza. Carson Valley Plaza is a 300,000 square foot center and is home to Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Borders, Old Navy, Petco, and other national, regional, and local retailers. Home Depot, Staples, Ross, Target, and Costco are also in the immediate area.

Reno artist to demonstrate for valley art group
Reno artist Teddy Hollenbeck will demonstrate watercolors at the Carson Valley Art Association Meeting at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Minden Library in Minden.
Hollenbeck is an alumni of UC Berkeley with an art major, a member of the Sierra Arts and Nevada Art Association and the past president of that board.
