Robert D. Watrous, 83, a Minden resident for the past 13 years, died Sept. 1, 2005, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Arkansas, to Raymond D. and Elsie Marie Watrous.
He received a degree from San Diego State University.
Before moving to Minden, he lived in Encinitas, Calif.
Mr. Watrous worked as a banker for Bank of America for 46 years. He was a member and past president of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce.
He was also past president of the Escondido Lions Club and the Escondido Rotary Club.
He was preceded in death by daughter Fay Ann Tupas on Nov. 12, 2004.
Among his survivors are his wife of 51 years, Luella, and daughter Robbie Thorson, both of Minden; grandchildren Christina Gillespie, Sean Gillespie and Tanner Thorson, all of Minden, Jennifer Ellis and Marilyn Blatnik, both of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jonathan Tupas of Gardnerville; sister, Barbara Chainey of Honolulu; and brother, Jonathan Tupas of Gardnerville.
