Dayton man dies in bicycle accident

A Dayton man suffered a fatal head injury Thursday afternoon while bicycling on State Route 341 in Lyon County.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the 33-year-old victim was riding abut one-half mile north of U.S. Highway 50 when he was passed by a semi-truck and trailer, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol report. He lost control and fell onto the highway, hitting his head and sustaining a fatal head wound.

The name of the victim had not been released as of press time, pending notification of next of kin.

The NHP is continuing to investigate the incident and is asking witnesses to call 688-2500.
