Carson girls soccer rolls past Hug

It was more like a scrimmage for the Carson High girls soccer team, who rolled to a 13-1 win over Hug on Tuesday at CHS.

Hug had only nine players and Carson also used only nine players as the game was played nine-on-nine. Despite the score, Carson coach Randy Roser said he was impressed with Hug's goalie, rating her as one of the top two goalies in Northern Nevada. Hug's goalie was credited with making 34 saves in the first half.

Roser basically used two shifts of nine players throughout the game. "We kind of changed the lines just like a hockey match," Roser said. "We just kind of used it to work on some things."

Carson's scoring sequences went as follows: Cassie Bowman scored unassisted and then Carli Smith scored two goals, with one coming on an assist from Rebecca Cane. Danielle Benamati scored, Ann Sinnott scored on an assist from Bowman, Bowman scored, Kayla Sanchez scored on an assist from Smith, Cane and Sinnott scored, Jill Coates scored on an assist from Brandi Vega and Anna Macquarie scored on assist from Vega.

Goalie Alli Otto got to play in the field and scored the last two goals on assists from Coates and Sophia Raphael.
