Fourth arrested in armed robbery

A fourth man, allegedly involved in an armed robbery, was arrested Thursday morning after investigators received a tip on his whereabouts.

Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Bob White said Omar Segura-Hernandez, 22, of Carson City, was taken into custody at 8:20 a.m. Thursday at the Foothill Garden Apartments on Long and Russell streets.

According to the police report, the victim was invited Tuesday night to the Harrison Lane home of William Zachary Heflin, 21, on the pretext of buying a stereo.

When he arrived, the victim was allegedly confronted by Rudy Perez, 28, armed with an AK-47 assault rifle; his brother Michael Perez, 27; Segura-Hernandez and Heflin.

White said the victim handed over his money and fled on foot. He called police from a bar on Airport Road.

Heflin and the Perez brothers were arrested at the scene.

The assault rifle, registered to Perez, was recovered from a shed in the back yard.

Michael Perez's wife said Thursday her husband was at home with her and other family members when the alleged robbery took place.

"We pulled up after the cops were there," Lorena said. "He didn't know his brother took the gun."

But White said the victim, Heflin and Segura-Hernandez all gave statements indicating Michael Perez was involved.

Segura-Hernandez, Rudy and Michael Perez are being held on suspicion of felony robbery with a deadly weapon.

Heflin is being held on suspicion of felony principle to robbery.

Segura-Hernandez was paroled from prison Nov. 30, after being sentenced to 12 to 56 months for possessing a controlled substance with the intent to sell in Douglas County.
