Guinn names new press secretary

(Staff report) - Steve George has been named Gov. Kenny Guinn's press secretary.

He will take over Monday and replaces Greg Bortolin who left to work for the gubernatorial campaign of Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson.

George is now serving as public information officer for the Nevada Secretary of State's Office. Before that, he was director of communications for the Attorney General's Office.

George will earn $97,363 a year.

"Steve brings a wealth of experience to the job and I am pleased to welcome him to my office," Guinn said.

George said he was honored by Guinn's confidence in him and would "do my best to handle the job as professionally as my predecessor."
