• In Carson City, small amounts of mercury can be disposed for free, through the Environmental Health Department's Hazardous Household Waste receptacle at Carson City Landfill, according to Darren Winkleman, health director.

• In Douglas County, residents should contact Emergency Services at 782-9977. Emergency Services Technician Harry Raub said, for a fee some quantities of mercury can be disposed by calling an environmental cleaner to come pick it up.
