A Stateline man was killed Monday in a single-vehicle accident on Spooner Summit.
The 50-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was eastbound about four miles west of Highway 395 on Highway 50 West, when he apparently hit the guardrail and rolled several times down an embankment.
The man was ejected as the vehicle rolled to a stop some 400 feet from the initial impact with the guardrail.
A homeowner on Clear Creek Road discovered the wreckage about 9:30 p.m. when he went to investigate the noise, according to Sheriff Kenny Furlong.
The vehicle, believed to be a 1971 Dodge Challenger, was a convertible, but it's unclear if the top was up or down when the accident happened.
A trooper on scene estimated the man's speed in excess of 80 mph.
