A Dayton man was sentenced Monday to 90 days in Douglas County Jail for his part in a $250 drug transaction.
Juan Rojas-Serrano, 27, pleaded guilty to sales of a controlled substance.
District Judge Michael Gibbons sentenced him to a suspended three-year term in Nevada State Prison and ordered him to perform 50 hours of community service.
Rojas-Serrano is subject to random search and seizure and ordered to abstain from drugs and alcohol during his three-year probation.
"I recognize what I have done," he said, speaking through a court interpreter. "I repent for what I've done. I'm sure I will never do it again."
Prosecutor Derrick Lopez argued for jail time, saying Rojas-Serrano did not cooperate with the investigation or provide any information that would qualify him for a reduced sentence.
He said even though Rojas-Serrano only sold a quarter-ounce, he offered to front another quarter-ounce of methamphetamine and collect payment later.
He was arrested Sept. 21, 2004, after a transaction in the Wal-Mart parking lot in north Douglas County.
Also in court, a 22-year-old whom authorities said boasted he supplied the best marijuana in Carson City, was sentenced Monday to six months in Douglas County Jail.
Beau Server, of Carson City, was sentenced to a suspended four-year term in Douglas County jail and placed on three years' probation.
He pleaded guilty to one count of sales of a controlled substance.
When he was arrested April 28 with two co-defendants, deputies found a gun in his vehicle.
The trio sold 11Ú4 pounds of marijuana to an undercover informant for $4,800.
Server's lawyer, William Routsis, argued for diversion or drug court because he said Server completed real estate school and couldn't obtain a license with a felony conviction.
Gibbons said Server is subject to unannounced search and seizure for alcohol, drugs and weapons.
He is to have no contact with the co-offenders and must perform 100 hours of community service.
