A graveside service for Raymond Johnson, 80, a Carson City resident for the past five years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mohawk Valley Cemetery in Graeagle, Calif.

Mr. Johnson died Sept. 26, 2005, in Carson City.

He was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Earl J. and Mildred Holdridge Johnson.

He attended George Washington High School in Los Angeles.

He married Cynthia on Sept. 11, 1954, in Los Angeles.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Graeagle for 20 years.

Mr. Johnson was a dispatcher for Southern California Gas Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1984.

He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in Europe during World War II.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994 and sister Jean Fischer in 1995.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Sue Johnson of Carson City; brothers Stan of Northridge, Calif., and Earl of Los Angeles; and grandchildren Jennifer and Kylee Johnson, both of Carson City.

Walton's chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
