Juliana Paoli, a 1996 Carson High graduate, will be leaving her position as general manger of the Golden Baseball League's San Diego Surf Dawgs, but will stay in the GBL to help build another expansion franchise.
Jeffrey Grow has been named as the Surf Dawgs new general manager, replacing Paoli, who will move to an expansion market in the independent GBL to help build another team in its inaugural season. In the meantime, Paoli will work with the Surf Dawgs, continuing to further awareness of the team through marketing and community relations.
Paoli joined the GBL in its inaugural season this past year to assist in the organizational development and launch of the Surf Dawgs, which played this year at San Diego State's Tony Gwynn Stadium. Paoli built the team from the ground up, creating a nationally recognized Surf Dawgs brand.
Under Paoli's management the team experienced much success including, winning the GBL championship. In addition, Terry Kennedy was named Manager of the Year, Nick Guerra was named Rookie of the Year and Cody Clark was named championship series Most Valuable Player. Under Paoli's leadership, the Surf Dawgs also ranked third in the league in attendance.
"Creating the Surf Dawgs from conception was an incredibly rewarding experience," Paoli said. "I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to touch people's lives night after night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. I am saddened to leave the San Diego team and the Surf Dawg family, yet excited to move to a new market and have the opportunity to create another winning organization.
"I am thrilled for Jeff Grow to take over the team and am confident that he will lead the team to the next level. Jeff's knowledge and strong community ties are what will continue the success of the Surf Dawgs organization for years to come."
"I am grateful for the work Juliana Paoli did in creating this team especially building a brand in a major market, a feat that is certainly commendable," Grow said.
