The Douglas High School wrestling team has stepped up its off-season program, competing in last weekend's Reno World Championships at the Reno Livestock Event Center.
Douglas had 10 wrestlers participate, along with four youth wrestlers.
Senior Cameron Ames, juniors Devin Barker and Jake Williams, sophomores Matt Boyd, Tony Ferris, Garrett Hekhuis, Ryan Olsen and CJ Wynar and freshmen Nico Barker and Justin Freeman as well as youth wrestlers Logan Ames, Tyler Ames, Sullivan Cauley and Robert Grant competed against the best wrestlers from 37 states.
Next year, the plan is for Douglas to compete as a team at the Reno World's. Anyone interested in signing up for next year's tournament can contact the team with their information and as soon as sign-ups begin, they will be contacted.
Douglas High wrestlers are continuing their off-season training by practicing twice a week as well as traveling to several more tournaments.
Next up is a duals tournament in Natomas, Calif., or nationals at Stanford.
