Douglas County Secret Witness is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for the loss of thousands of dollars of military-type equipment from a company that trains security personnel for high-risk duty in Iraq.
Sgt. Tom Mezzetta said 10 pairs of night vision goggles, military flashlights, bulletproof vests, a scope and a laptop computer were reported missing March 3 from SOC-SMG Inc., a Minden-based security company.
Mezzetta said the goggles alone were worth $41,750.
He said the embezzlement, which occurred March 3, is under investigation.
SOC-SMG, Inc., is a military veteran-owned security company whose international operations are headquartered in Minden. Many employees have a military or law enforcement background.
Clients range from Nike Inc. to the Department of Defense.
