The artists of The Artistic Eye have found a way to enjoy the beauty of nature in the home.
Photographer Patricia Bailey and painter Aliette Coeytaux said they have a great way to enjoy beautiful personal artwork.
Bailey and Coeytaux can be commissioned to make photographs or oil paintings of scenes that have personal significance such as homes, yards or getaways.
"You can buy things already made or commission me to photograph and Aliette to paint," said Bailey.
Bailey likes to hike and always photographed her travels around the world. She uses her photos to make note cards.
She was a chiropractic patient of Coeytaux when she noticed the oil paintings on the office walls.
"I brought in a photo of sunflowers from my yard and asked her to create an oil painting for me," said Bailey.
"Pat was trusting enough for me to do her painting," said Coeytaux. "She had more confidence in me than I did. We decided to put a portfolio together."
Coeytaux took art at the University of Nevada, Reno, in her pre-med years but hadn't touched paints after she became a chiropractor. Years after she raised a family, she decided to take up painting again.
"God kept saying, 'pick up your paints,'" she said. "It was a way to regroup and find my peace."
Bailey and Coeytaux show examples of their artwork at a grand opening event for The Artistic Eye from 1-4 p.m. May 7 at 1273 Kingston Way in Gardnerville. They will display oil paintings and photographs of Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. Landscape and floral note cards will also be available for sale.
