Gardnerville residents Al and Anna Gherardi celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 17.

The Gherardis were high school sweethearts who married on June 17, 1956, in Culver City, Calif. They lived in Redondo Beach, Calif., for many years, before retiring to Big Bear, Calif., in 1995, and then the Minden/Gardnerville area in 2000. They lived in Minden for four years, and now reside in Gardnerville.

They have three daughters: Cathy Gillespie of Minden, Tammy Gherardi of Revere, Mass., and DeeAnn Rathert of Del Mar, Calif.; and three grandsons: Cory Hartnett, 23, of Del Mar, Calif., Matt Hartnett, 21, of Meyers, Calif., and Cooper Gillespie, 3, of Minden.

Al Gherardi is a member of the Carson Tahoe Regional chapter of the Antique Auto Club of America, as well as a member of the Sagebrush Model A Ford Club.

Anna Gherardi is a member of the "Valley Chicks" Red Hatters.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Al and Anna took a second honeymoon to Nova Scotia, where they renewed their vows in Luninburg. The ceremony was officiated by the town mayor, Mayor Mawhinney.
